Day 30 - Rooster

Day 30, yes I made it.  30 days of a painting a day and I made it.  There was no prize, just a challenge that many people were tasked to try and achieve and I am one of them.  I have learned so much by painting every single day, as an artist should.  So here is my final painting for the challenge.  It is NOT the end of my painting, it's just the beginning!

Day 29 - Blowing In The Wind

Day 29 of the 30 Painting Challenge hosted by the lovely Leslie Saeta and Slices of Life is coming to an end.  I can't believe that 30 days has flown by so fast during this challenge.  I have LOVED doing it and I think as an artist I have truly grown.  I've managed to get it done all the while helping the oldest and her family move, that means watching the darling granddaughter.  Also, I have been working on our 40th class reunion and that happened this past weekend.  Frankly, I am a bit bushed but it's a good tired.

Day 25 - Rocks

Day 25 of the 30 Day Challenge...Hey, only 5 days left.  Not sure how I feel about that as this has been quite fun.  This weekend is my 40th high school reunion and it may REALLY be a challenge to get this done.  I can do it, I can do it, I can do it.

This one is another from our New England fall tour in 2011.  It is a different technique that I have only done a few times mainly on abstract stuff.  It is a challenge and time to learn...

Day 23 - Bathing Beauty

Day 24, what can I say about day 23...STRUGGLE...that is what I can say.  I chose a picture of my teenage mother in a bathing suit.  The problem is I struggle with faces, a lot, and it's of my mother, so I am not satisfied, EVER.  So if you are thinking it is going to look like my momma...it's not, but it is of a lady at least, not like a guy in drag, which was what it looked like most of the day in art class.  I wiped that face off  three times until I was at least satisfied that it looked like a woman.  Actually, it reminds me of my mother-in-law right now, but that's okay because I love my MIL.  This is all a challenge and it is to hone my skills as an artist, hence, ARTIST IN TRAINING!  You are never too old or too practiced to learn or gain some kind of knowledge.

Day 19 - Fall Solitude

As fall is fast approaching I am being drawn to paint some fall stuff.  This was from a photo I took when we toured the fall of back east.  It was quite beautiful but really the fall that year in Oklahoma was better.

Day 18 - "Ireland"

Day 18 of the 30 Day Painting Challenge and I have decided to do a landscape scene today.  A few years ago Robert and I took a trip to Ireland and it was spectacular.  I took probably 500 pictures and have painted a few of them.  The first day we arrived the view out our bedroom window was this.  I was totally in love with the green and freshness that was Ireland.

Day 17 - #43 (Go Tigers)

Here we are over halfway through the 30 Day Painting Challenge hosted by Leslie Saeta.  I chose this photo from my old family pictures.  This is my Daddy, #43 who played for the Broken Arrow Tigers in 1954.  He was #43.  The photo was black and white so I had to make up some colors but since I knew "OUR" school colors were black and gold I think this was an easy one.  Enjoy.

Day 16 - "The Barn"

Day 16 of 30 Day Painting Challenge

This painting is from a photo I took probably 45 years ago at my great-grandparents house in Jay, Oklahoma.  The place holds some of the most important memories of my life and I always loved this barn.  We would go with Greatgranny to milk her cow Pet along with Fatso the long haired cat and Sandy the collie.  The smells and sounds are as close to me now as they were that many years ago.

Day 15 - "Fruit"

Day 15 of the 30 Day Challenge brings me to some fruit on this very early Monday morning.  I started this one a while back but just couldn't finish and this morning I sat looking at it and decided to finish.  Please the camera exposure.  Can't seem to get my camera to cooperate with the light and my eye today.

Day 13 - "Sunbathing"

Here we are at Day 13 of this 30 Day Painting Challenge and I'm trying to squeeze in yet another.  I think I can do this, I think I can do this...

Today's subject is from an old picture I have and I won't tell you who it is...haha...I've changed it up a bit but you will never know what I did.

Thank you for taking this ride with me during this challenge.

Day 11 - "Sadie"

Day 11 of the 30 Day Challenge and I am up early getting it done.  I guess sleep is overrated for me lately.  Seems I'm reverting to my childhood days when I would lay awake for HOURS while the whole house slept.

Today I have chosen a picture that has been in my file for awhile, years exactly.  This is my little cousin Sadie and it will go to live at her house when dry.

Day 9 - "Guitar Man"

Day 9 or the 30 Day Painting Challenge I could not be happier with how this one turned out.  It's of my sweet baby brother, the Guitar Man.  I have had this photo in a frame for several years and the other day I thought, "I'm going to paint that!" Well, last week I attempted and I mean attempted.  Epic fail but I was bound and determined to do it.  It looks like him and that makes me happier than ever.  This one is NOT for sale as I am giving it to him.

Day 8 - "Opal"

Today is sweet Opal, our granddaughter's new little kitty.  She was rescued from a feral colony way too young.  She is tiny and quite beautiful and it's one of the pet names Rio says very well.  I was thrilled when Rio saw the painting and quickly said, "OPAL!" Job done.

Day 7

Day 7 of the painting challenge and I am quite pleased with it.  I took this photo at my neighbors cabin and have wanted to paint it for awhile.  Somehow I just never had the desire until this morning.  Sometimes I have tons of photos that I look at and look at and then one day the urge just strikes and today was that day.

Some of the artists that are participating in this challenge are sharing a bit about themselves with this and I have not, mostly because of time.  Today I share.

When I started painting in 2009 I was terrified to touch the canvas with a paintbrush loaded with paint.  It was so scary for me to put myself out there but I did it, hand shaking like a leaf.  I have never looked back.  It has given me much more than an outlet for sanity it has given me courage and confidence that I have been lacking most of my life, especially my young life.  I always described myself as a wallflower in high school and now I'm a bold flower, bursting with joy and confidence and ATTITUDE!  I hope you enjoy my journey as much as I am right now.

Gosh, Day 4 of the 30 Day Challenge and it's already a struggle to find time to get something on the canvas but I view this as good practice to make me a better painter.  I have already sold Day 2, "Wishing Well" so that is good.  Practice makes perfect.

Day 3 - "To Life"

This one is special to me.  My Momma was always dancing.  Not dancing dancing but she would often would throw up her hands up and kick her feet in a short dance step.  I've had this fuzzy picture of her kicking up her heels in the surf of Destin, Florida on one of our many family vacations.  It's how my girls remember her, often so I had to paint her.  Of course the bathing cap was an add on but it's my Momma.  So here is Day 3 of the 30 day painting challenge.

I have all this time in the world (NOT) so I thought I would sign up for something else to do.  It's a Thirty Day Challenge for a painting a day at Leslie Saeta's blog Leslie Saeta Fine Art.

So today is Day 1 of the challenge.
